Rep. Matt Manweller talks with KONA about the budget
If you ask Rep. Matt Manweller, R-Ellensburg, the most dangerous thing in Olympia is unspent money. Manweller, who describes himself as a fiscal conservative, says there are concerns about the proposed use of the rainy day fund in the House supplemental budget. The fund, which is designated for emergencies, has been earmarked in the budget as a resource for numerous policy projects by Democrats. Many Republicans are concerned that such use will create budget problems in future years. They also disagree with proposed tax increases and feel the budget was presented by the Democrats, who were aware the Republican controlled Senate would be offering a much more austere spending plan.
