Capitol Report with Rep. Manweller

Rep. Matt Manweller, R-Ellensburg, appeared on Capitol Report, and was pragmatic about the lack of movement on his Academic Free Speech bill.  Said the Republican lawmaker, “It's 60 days, we have 147 members.  Everyone wants their bills to move, but there's not enough bandwidth to make it happen.”  His measure would have protected student's rights to free speech on college campuses.  It never made it out of committee.

Manweller's measure protecting historic cemeteries is continuing to get notice, as is another of his proposals relating to non-compete clauses.

The Republican lawmaker was recently appointed to the Appropriations Committee, and stated, “I will continue to be the fiscal conservative I always have been.”
