Rep. Matt Manweller appointed to House Appropriations Committee

Rep. Matt Manweller, R-Ellensburg, has been appointed to the House Appropriations Committee by Minority Leader Dan Kristiansen.

“I am not sure many legislators would consider being named to the Appropriations Committee a fun assignment, but it is great to be on the committee controlling the purse strings,” said Manweller. “We have some critical areas we need to fund – education, mental health and some emergency appropriations this year to cover the flooding and wildfires that devastated our state.”

The committee considers matters pertaining to the operating budget, budget fiscal impacts and processes, and fiscal issues such as pension policy and compensation.

Manweller will now be serving on two fiscal committees as he also sits on the House Finance Committee.

“Not only do I get to sit on the committee that decides where we are spending taxpayers' money, but the finance committee gives me a firsthand look at our state and local revenues and how much tax money we have coming into the coffers,” said Manweller.

Manweller also serves as the ranking Republican on the House Labor and Workplace Standards Committee and is the assistant floor leader for the Republican Caucus.
